Ian Poulter made it an English double as he secured a three shot victory at the JBWere Masters in Melbourne today.
Following on from Lee Westwood’s win in Thailand, world number 28 Poulter finished the tournament on 15 under par three ahead of Australian Marcus Fraser.
Another Australian, Geoff Ogilvy finished third on 11 under.
After securing the title with a par on the 18th, Poulter immediately shared his delight with his 1.2 million followers on twitter tweeting: “winner winner chicken dinner … what a way to finish the year.”
The win moves Poulter into the World top 20 and in the more formal surroundings of the post tournament media conference he described the win as “very special “
“For me it was a pure ball striking round of golf,” Poulter said.
“(My concentration) was flawless the whole day. I was happy how I approached every shot.
“I hit my targets, it was fairly methodical, but for me it was a nice round of golf.”
