Zaidpour continued to regain his much vaunted reputation when he smoothly landed the Grade 2 Tara Hurdle at Navan on Sunday afternoon.
The Willie Mullins trained gelding landed the Grade 1 Royal Bond last season but proved to be somewhat of a disappointment since then. However it appears that he has turned the corner after his travelled much the best in the race to justify his short odds of 1/3 in the hands of Ruby Walsh.
Speaking after the race his trainer said “That was a good performance. I think he’s starting to do what I thought he would do last year.
“I very much doubt he’ll run at Christmas [in the Istabraq Festival Hurdle at Leopardstown]. We’ll find a race in the new year. I don’t know which way he’ll go – he could go up in trip but he could also have the pace for two miles.”
Zaidpour was clipped by Champion Hurdle sponsors Stan James into 25/1 from 33/1 for the big race on the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival
