Boston Bob bolts up in Navan Grade 1

Updated: December 19, 2011

Boston Bob continued his march up the novice hurdle ranks when he comfortably saw off Mount Benbulben to land the Grade 1 Navan Novice Hurdle at the Co Meat track on Sunday afternoon.

Ridden by Ruby Walsh, the Graham Wyile owned gelding travelled much better than his market rival and only had to be shaken up to go about his business to land a race that has been won by the likes of Mikael D’Haguenet and Oscars Well in recent years.

His trainer Willie Mullins, who recorded a double on the card, was delighted with the performance, saying “He jumped a lot better this time as they were going faster. He relished the trip and will probably go up in the new year. He’ll be entered in both the Neptune and Albert Bartlett [at the Cheltenham Festival].”

Paddy Power went 12-1 (from 16) for the Albert Bartlett and 16-1 (from 20) for the Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle
