WBA v Man City preview, team news & odds

Manchester City look to continue their good form of late when they face West Brom on St Stephens Day in the Barclays Premier League, kick off 3.00pm.

The league leaders got the busy Christmas period off to the best possible start, when they easily brushed aside Stoke City by three goals to nil five days ago. That win solidified their position at the top of the league, two points clear of Manchester Utd.

Speaking ahead of the trip to The Hawthorns, club captain Vincent Kompany feels that his side are right on course to have a successful campaign this year. “This year in particular has certainly been proof of the fact we’re going about it the right way and that’s the main thing for us.

“I almost feel like I want to wait before I talk so much, but I really have a gut feeling that tells me that this is the season for us.

“I feel we have a very good team spirit. This is something probably is the thing people don’t expect as much in our team.
“The fact I see it every single day motivates me even more because I believe we’ve got it more than what people see and what people think.”

City have no fresh injury concerns for a game that they should and need to win in order to keep their relentless march towards their first Premier League title.

Standing in their way however is a West Brom side that will be looking to continue their good work in the first half of the season, a first half that sees them lying 9th in the league table. While acknowledging the scale of the task in front of him, defender Billy Jones is happy with his sides ‘underdog’ status.

“We go into every game as organised as possible and we play our football from there,” said Jones. @”Obviously, we’ll go
into the game against Manchester City as underdogs with City still top of the league.

“They’re a great team and you can see that based on their performances this year.

“They’re a great team with great individual performers as well.

“I’m sure we’re all looking forward to the challenge.

“We’ll work hard with the time we have to be organised and ready for what I’m sure will be a difficult game.”

All in all it is hard to look past Man City who look like champions in waiting. They are selected to win today. A scoreline of 3-1 looks a good bet and is 13.5 on Betfair and is worth a small stake.
