Newcastle midfielder Alan Smith is set to leave Tyneside during the January transfer window with Ipswich set to be his destination.
According to reports in the Daily Mirror the Championship side are set to offer Smith a chance to revive a career that has been blighted by a number of bad injuries that has stalled his career thus far.
Smith, who signed for Newcastle from Man Utd for £6 million in 2007, has only made two Premier League appearances for the Magpies and both of those were as a late substitute. Should Smith join Ipswich, he will be joining a team struggling near the foot of the Championship. They currently lie in 19th, three points above the relegation zone.
