Manchester Utd are reportedly locked in a head to head battle with CSKA Moscow to sign a player who has been dubbed the ‘new Leo Messi’.
Alan Dzagoev has already made a 100 appearances for CSKA despite still only been 21 years of age. He became the youngest player to make his debut for Russia in 2008, he was aged just 18 years and 116 days.
Dzagoev has been earning rave reviews for his performances for CSKA. An attacking midfielder, Dzagoev has been hailed as the ‘new Messi’ for his attacking flair and creativity. His manager at Russia in 2008, Guss Hiddink said at the time “Alan is a really clever player with the ability to make a killer pass and stretch the play.”
Sir Alex Ferguson will be keen to sign a play who can inject some life and flair into what has become a stagnant Man Utd midfield. Injuries to Darren Fletcher, Tom Cleverley and Ashley Young have not helped Ferguson, while Darren Gibson has had some off field issues with Ferguson.
CSKA are likely to do business as Dzagoev’s contract ends at the end of the current season in case they lose him on a free transfer when his contract runs out
