Kildare return to competitive action on Sunday afternoon when they begin the defence of the O’Byrne Cup title against DIT in St. Conleth’s Park Newbridge on Sunday at 2pm.
The Lilywhites won last year’s title when they dramatically defeated Louth with two last gasp goals from Ronan Sweeney and Keith Cribbin helping them to the title.
There will be a different look to the Kildare team when they line out on Sunday afternoon. Damien Hendy, David Whyte and Keith Cribbin are not involved along Dermot Earley, Hugh Lynch, Willie Heffernan and Mark O’Sullivan while Joe Crowe from Carbury and St. Laurences’ Dessie Lawlor will hope to see some action.
Manager Keiren McGeeney will be looking to use this competition to build towards a successful league campaign which will start in February against Tyrone.
DIT will be using the game as preparation for the Sigerson Cup and will no doubt prove tough oppostiion for Kildare, however Kildare should prove too prove good for the students and are selected to get their first win of 2012.
