Gerrard signs new long term deal

Liverpool says captain Steven Gerrard has signed a “long-term” contract extension with the Premier League club and will take up an ambassadorial role when his career ends.

The 31-year-old midfielder who has recently returned to action following an injury hit 2011, has spent his entire career at Liverpool.

Gerrard’s has long been Liverpool’s talisman and proved his worth to the side yet again on Wednesday with the crucial penalty kick that gave Liverpool a 1-0 win over Manchester City in the first leg of the League Cup semi final
