Manchester United have emerged as favourites to sign Crystal Palace starlet Nathan Clyne.
The 20 year old defender played a pivotal role in Palace’s Carling Cup win over Manchester United in November with his performance catching the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson.
The England U21 International is out of contract at the end of the season and is on the radar of a number of club’s including Newcastle, Fulham and Everton, however according to reports on Goal.com the Red Devil manager believes he can trump them all with a January offer of £3 million.
Palace are already resigned to losing the player with Chairman Steve Parish telling the London Evening Standard “Nathaniel won’t sign a new contract,”
I have offered him a very lucrative one and I can’t force him to accept it.
“His agent has got Nathaniel running his contract down – make your own mind up about what’s happening.”
2011 Player of the year Clyne has made 121 appearances for Palace and should he wait until the summer to move, Palace would be entitled to compensation as he under-24 and a product of the club’s youth system.
