Shakhtar Doneksk midfielder Willian has expressed his interest in joining Chelsea.
The 23 year old was reportedly subject of a £16.7m bid from Chelsea earlier in the week, but Shakhtar are thought to be holding out for his £29m buy-out clause.
Talking to The Sun newspaper, Willian said: “Chelsea are known as one of the biggest and most successful clubs around. If a deal doesn’t go through, I’ll understand. But I hope it happens.
“They have a culture of winning trophies and that excites me. To play for them is a challenge I would accept and enjoy.”
Willian started his career at Corinthians before joining Shakhtar Donetsk for £12m in 2007. The midfielder has enjoyed a successful stint at the Ukranian club, with Shakhtar winning the UEFA Cup in 2009 and a league and cup double last season.
