Reported Chelsea target Eden Hazard has indicated that he is likely to leave French champion Lille this summer. In a move that is sure to delight Stamford Bridge fans, the highly rated midfielder has stated that he is going to sign with an English club.
Speaking on French TV, the Belgian international said, “I’ll head to England because I think the style of football fits me and it’s where I can learn the most,”
The 21 year old also put an end to rumours in the local media of a transfer in the next couple of days to Paris Saint-Germain.
“I’m not leaving,” Hazard said. “I still have a lot to prove at Lille, and why not win one or two trophies.”
Lille is still in the running for the French Cup and the French league.
Hazard was instrumental in Lille winning a league and cup double last season and was voted the French league’s player of the year.
“For sure, Paris Saint-Germain is tempting with the squad they have now,” Hazard said. “But I’d rather go abroad because I’ve already played more than 100 games in the French league and I want to know something else.”
Hazard has scored eight goals this season. His contract expires in 2015 and his release clause has been set at €40 million.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been linked with English, Spanish and Italian clubs.
