Cian O’Connor picked up 7,000 euro in prize money and Rolex ranking points Friday evening on his first week down at the annual Spanish Sunshine Tour at Vejer de la Frontera.

His Irish-bred Cruising gelding ‘Larkhill Cruiser’ once again did the business for the Meath rider with a victory in the day’s feature class, the Two Phase competition, shading French challenger Roger Yves Bost and his successful Selle Francais mare ‘Nikyta d’Elle’ by just a quarter of a second.

Army rider Capt. David O’Brien added to the Irish ribbons with a third place on the Co. Down-bred mare ‘Kiltoom’, which brought 3,500 euro in prize money.
