Ulster 30 – 12 Dragons
Ulster continued their good recent form, with a 30-12 victory over Dragons at Ravenhill on Friday night. The hosts were always the better side and after weathering some early pressure they were never threatened.
Jason Tovey had the first score of the game for the Welsh side, when he kicked a penalty on seven minutes. However, Ulster soon hit back and a try from Robbie Diack had the home crowd on their feet. South African star Pienaar then crossed over on the quarter hour mark to extend the Ulster lead. The same player converted his own score to give his men a nice cushion.
Tovey added penalties in the twenty third and twenty eight minutes to narrow the gap but Pienaar hit a similar score just before the interval to leave Ulster in the driving seat at the break. The second half was slow to get going until Tovey added yet another penalty and suddenly Dragons looked to have a chance. However, Craig Gilroy touched down for Ulster a minute later and the tie was as good as over.
Pienaar hit three points with just two minutes left on the clock and as the Irish side went searching for a bonus point, they were rewarded when Terblance crossed over in added time. Pienaar had a simple task of converting from under the posts to leave the final score 30-12 in Ulsters favour.
