Tobin and Croke take schools cross-country titles

Updated: February 12, 2012

Sean Tobin (High School Clonmel) had over a minute to spare over his schoolmate Michael Carey when he coasted to victory in the senior boys race at the Aviva Munster schools cross country championships at Cork IT today. Ian O’hAirtneid (Colaiste Daibhead) tried to stay with him from the start but just lasted 1,500m before the strong running Tobin went clear to win in a canter.

The senior girls race was a little closer but there was no denying Bronagh Croke (Crescent College Comp Limerick) her victory with six seconds to spare over Bronagh Kearns (Abbey CC Waterford).

Kyle Larkin (Ard Scoil Ris Limerick) and Cillian O’Donovan (Colaiste na Sceilige Cahirciveen) ran shoulder to shoulder for the first half of the intermediate boys race before Larkin upped the pace and ran on strongly to finish well clear of his rival. (Result times are not accurate).

Aisling Quinn (Ursuline Waterford) was another to win by a big margin. She moved away from Jessica Coyne (Crescent College Comp Limerick) on the last lap for a comfortable win.
