Heineken Star Player deepens fans enjoyment of UEFA Champions League.

Star Player is a world-first innovation online game that lets fans interact with real-time football matches on their laptop or iPhone while they watch UEFA Champions League matches on television.

Star Player has transformed how Irish fans watch the UEFA Champions League by allowing them to anticipate events unfolding on the pitch. By making second-by-second predictions in realtime, UEFA Champions League fans build points by predicting goals, corner kicks and free kicks.

Heineken Star Player is back fresh for 2012 and things are heating up as UEFA Champions League jumps into the business end of the tournament. The Round of 16 kicks off tonight with Lyon hosting Apoel and reigning champs Barcelona head to Leverkusen.

Also this week Arsenal face a tough trip to UCL heavyweights AC Milan while Portuguese side Benfica have the ever daunting task of travelling to Russia to take on Zenit St. Petersburg. Fans can anticipate if Robin Van Persie carries his Premiership form into Europe by netting against seven time Champions League winners AC Milan by predicting within 30 seconds of it happening or if the Leverkusen defence will clear a Lionel Messi corner to build up Star Player points. Using unique time-dependent technology, with every correct forecast, fans gain points and climb the leaderboard.

This is the eighth consecutive year that Heineken, the world’s most international beer brand, has sponsored the prestigious UCL.
