Inter Milan’s season has hit crisis point after they lost 3-0 at home to mid-table side Bologna on Friday evening.
Two goals in a minute by Bologna striker Marco Di Vaio gave Inter Milan a mountain to climb and Inter president Massimo Moratti was seen leaving the stadium in disgust at half time.
As Inter tried desperately to get back into the game, Bologna added a third through substitute Robert Acquafresca which compounded Inter’s misery and leaves manager Claudio Ranieri on the brink of getting the sack. After the third goal, large groups of Inter supporters walked out, while others hurled abuse at the players and Ranieri from the stands. This is Inter Milan’s second home loss in a row after they lost 1-0 to bottom of the table Novara last Sunday.
The other game on Friday night resulted in Napoli gaining an important victory away to Fiorentina. A brace from Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi gave Napoli a 3-0 win and puts them back in contention for a Champions League spot and they have now leapfrogged Inter and Roma in the Serie A table. Napoli can now focus their attention to their Champions League clash with Chelsea at the San Paolo on Tuesday night.
