Fermanagh made it two wins out of two in Division four of the Allianz Football League as they ran out comfortable 2-15 to 0-09 winners over London.
Peter Canavan’s side, winners over Clare last weekend, made a good start in the re-arranged fixture Ruislip when Seamus Quigley fired over a 45 in the opening minute and by the 10 minute mark they were four points to good up, Quigley doubling his tally to add to scores from Paul Ward and Sean Quigley.
Tomas Corrigan made it 0-05 before the Exiles, who had lost to Limerick by six points in their opening fixture, finally got on the score sheet through scores from Sean Hannon and Mark Gottsche.
Scores from Conor Quigley and Eoin Donnelly, his first in Fermanagh colours, sandwiched in between points from Eoin O’Neill and the impressive Gottsche made it 0-07 to 0-04 with 26 minutes gone.
Just as it looked as if London were going to get into the game, Ward was fouled to give the visitors a penalty which Seamus Quigley dispatched to put Fermanagh firmly in control at 1-08 to 0-04 just three minutes before half time.
Quigley and O’Neill traded points on the stroke of half time to send the sides in 1-09 to 0-05 at the half time whistle.
Just like the first half Fermanagh were quickest off the blocks in the second half with points from Ward, Quigley and Shane Lyons getting a point to put 10 points between the sides.
Sean Kelly stemmed the flow with a point for London and it was another 18 minutes before Fermanagh managed a score as London racked up three further scores to make it 1-12 to 0-09 points with 10 minutes left.
Barry Mulrone with his second of the day and Conor Quigley made it 1-14 to 0-09 points before substitute Ryan Keenan scored Fermanagh’s second goal of the day in injury time.
Fittingly, the man who started the day’s scoring, the impressive Seamus Quigley, finished up the scoring with a free to put the gloss on a fantastic 12 points win for the Ulster side.
