FA top brass are believed to be concerned about his lack of experience at the top level of football before taking over Spurs and his total lack of international experience.

The FA will sort through various options and draw up an official shortlist of candidates for the top job in English football as it is still unclear whether Redknapp can be prized away from White Hart Lane.

Jose Mourinho visited London recently and it is thought that the Real Madrid coach could be an option for the FA.
