Richie Foley has confirmed that he will miss the rest of the Allianz National Hurling League through injury.
The Abbeyville clubman, who can play in defence, midfield or attack, is recovering from hip surgery and faces nine weeks on the sidelines.
The 24 year-old has targeted a return for the Déise’s June 17th Munster Senior Hurling Championship clash with Clare, but the news that he will miss the rest of the league is a blow to the Waterford set-up who are already without a number of bodies who are suffering from injuries.
Said Foley shortly after his operation: “Championship is everything in my mind now and June 17th is the only date I’m thinking about. I want to make sure that my leg is right. Please God it will be but I’m not going to rush it because I could ruin myself completely.”
