Spurs’ manager Harry Redknapp looks to be set to make a summer move for Canadian striker Julien Hoilett. The Ontario native is out of contract in the summer and were he to leave Blackburn, it would be for a nominal fee. Rovers are keen to keep hold of the 21 year-old, though he looks set to join a bigger club in England or further afield.
Spurs had their chief scout watching Hoilett play in Rovers’ 1-1 draw with Aston Villa over the weekend; a result which takes the Lancashire club out of the Premier League relegation zone. Spurs are said not to be alone in courting an interesting in the man who last year rejected an opportunity to play international football for his native Canada when stating: ”I want to concentrate on developing my club career instead of playing international football.” Arsenal are reported to be amongst a host of top clubs to have also watched the youngster.
Rovers’ big fear is that Hoilett will go to Germany, where his brother playes, as their fee would be considerably less if he were to move abroad and Bayern Munich have been linked.
