While Cheltenham maybe the focal point of the racing world at the moment, flat racing fans can dream that the showdown between Black Caviar and Frankel just might happen.
It seemed that any hope that the two global superstars would meet had disappeared, but Frankel’s trainer Sir Henry Cecil has reopened the idea after admitting that the clash would be ‘fantastic’.
Speaking on Sydney’s Sky Sports Radio Cecil hinted that the pair could clash in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. He said ” “Of course I would. I think it would be fantastic, but I must do the right thing for the horse. I’m certainly not bringing him back to seven furlongs. He’s settling now and the idea is that he’s going to go on to a mile-and-a-quarter.”
“If I wanted to at some stage keep him to a mile and she wants to up it to a mile and come over, it would be lovely. If the Sussex Stakes was the right race for Frankel, it would be lovely to see the two of them race.”
Cecil also has huge respect for Black Cavair. “he’s got the mostlovely temperament and way about her. She does everything very professionally and she is obviously very good. We’re always loyal, he [Moody] wouldn’t swap his mare and I certainly wouldn’t swap my horse.”
