Officials at Cheltenham will continue to water the Old course on Monday, ahead of the four-day festival which starts on Tuesday.
The Old course will be in operation for the opening two days of the festival and after adding 4mm of water last week, groundstaff will add a further 3mm on Monday as the going remained good to soft, good in places overnight.
Clerk of the course Simon Claisse said: “We will put about 3mm of water on the quicker bits on the Old course today, over most of the circuit bar a couple of furlongs down the back straight. It’s -3.5C and sunny – well it will be when the sun gets over the horizon. The course is white at the moment, but no frost has got into the ground.”
Claisse believes that the ground will be good, good to soft in places or good to soft, good in places for the opening day of the festival.
