Paul Nicholls expressed his delight as Kauto Star came through his racecourse gallop at Wincanton on Friday afternoon.
The legendary horse completed over a circuit of the track alongside his stable companion Mon Parrain and Nicholls, speaking to Racing UK, was thrilled.
“I’m delighted with that, thrilled,” said Nicholls afterwards. “He’s worked very enthusiastically. I think we are very nearly there. We’ll see how he is in the morning and then he’ll school on Monday.
“I’m almost certain he’ll be at Cheltenham a week from now after that. He looks fantastic now and he’s so enthusiastic, Ruby struggled to pull him up. He didn’t do much today – we didn’t want to be hard on him, but it was great to see and the way he went about it was great.
Kauto Star’s regular jockey Ruby Walsh was equally happy. “”He’s up for it and ready for it, he’salive and well and he feels sharp. He’s in great order.”
