The An Post Sean Kelly team continued their impressive run of form as Belgian rider Roy Jans won the Kattekoers (1.2) in Ghent this afternoon.
The 21 year old prevailed in a bunch sprint at the finish, which meant the team scored their second victory this week following Niko Eeckhout’s success in the GP Wanzele.
The team were also unlucky not to have two wins today as Gediminas Bagdonas was just edged out in another sprint at the Omloop van het Waasland (1.2), where he finished in third place.
Team manager Kurt Bogaerts was delighted with both results, achieving the goal he had set of a podium placing in each race.
“I’m really pleased with how we got on this weekend. The team worked really hard for Roy and in the end it was a great win for us. It could have been two wins but Bagdonas was unlucky, as he just couldn’t quite catch the Topsport rider, Preben Van Hecke.”
“The guys have all been training really hard and now we are starting to get the results we deserve. To have two wins this week is a great feeling for everyone.”
