According to British media; Liverpool and Inter Milan are the two most likely contenders to sign Chilean international Mauricio Isla.
Inter are said to be ready to table a £13million (€16million) summer bid for the 23 year-old. Liverpool have long been interested in the man who played all four of Chile’s games at the 2010 World Cup but the Merseysiders appear to be losing out in the race for Isla’s signature due to their slowness to put forward a concrete offer.
Inter will feel as if they are in need of fresh attacking options as the 2010 Champions League winners lie in seventh place in Serie A (some 17 points adrift of their city rivals AC Milan) and have been knocked out of the 2011-’12 Champions League at the last 16 stage by Marseilles. Isla would certainly bring fresh options as he can play either at right-back, attacking midfield or even at inside-forward; bringing an attacking impetus from deep.
Inter could be set for a summer bidding war with Liverpool and a host of other clubs mooted to be interested in the signature of the highly regarded youngster who is completing his fourth season in Serie A.
