Manchester United and Juventus are in the running to sign Ghana international Kwadwo Asamoah.
According to Italian media; the 23 year-old is high on Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson’s wishlist as he looks to bolster his midfield at the end of the season.
Having regularly being linked with big money moves for Inter’s Wesley Sneijder and Tottenham’s Luka Modric, Ferguson looks set to bid for a man who will come at a fraction of the price of the aforementioned two.
The versatile midfielder, who can also play on the left side, is under contract at Udinese until 2015 and it is thought he would cost £10 million (€12 million) for any potential suitors to pry away from the Stadio Friuli. This bargain price is also thought to be attracting Juventus and a host of other top European clubs keen to lure the much sought after Ghana international who played all five of his nation’s matches at the 2010 World Cup.
Having scored only one goal so far this season, he is certainly not a prolific goalscoring midfielder, but his versatility across the middle/attacking thirds of the pitch could prove very useful to United as neither Scholes nor Giggs can continue forever.
