Queens Park Rangers face a daunting challenge as they try to survive the drop and their run in for the rest of the season doesn’t make the prospect of the London club surviving seem any more likely.
Tonight’s visitors Carling Cup winners Liverpool represent a major challenge even if the Reds have struggled to put away weaker opposition at times this season.
A win over Rangers would see them close the gap on Newcastle in sixth to two points as they look to salvage a decent season out of what has been a major disappointment.
To do that they will look to stop former player Djibril Cisse who has been in good form for QPR since joining.
The striker is one of QPR’s only threats with top scorer Heidar Helguson and DJ Campbell both injured although the two should be back sooner rather than later.
Adel Taarabt is fit again and should feature tonight as the home side look to improve upon a dismal home record. (11 points from 14 games)
Kenny Dalglish will likely turn to Martin Kelly in defence with Glen Johnson injured and Daniel Agger’s rib injury also stretches them in defence. Craig Bellamy is also likely to miss the trip.
