Treasure Beach, the winner of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby in 2011, will race in new colours this season after it was confirmed that owners Jim and Fitri Hay have bought a 50% stake in the colt.
The son of Galileo becomes the third horse that the Hays have bought an interest in after they took a stake in both Cape Blanco and Fame And Glory at the beginning of last season.
Alex Cole, racing manager to the owners, said: “I can confirm that Mrs Fitri Hay has purchased a 50 per cent share in Treasure Beach and the plan is to run in the Sheema Classic.
“Jamie Spencer will ride as he is Mrs Hay’s retained rider and he will race in her colours. There are no definite plans as yet after Dubai, we will see how he gets on before making any decisions.”
