Premier League round up: City back on top

Manchester City reclaimed top spot in the Premier League despite Peter Crouch’s stunning goal denying them a victory at the Britannia Stadium. Crouch opened the scoring for the Potters on 59 minutes with a long range volley however Yaya Toure rescued a point for City on 76 minutes with a powerful shot.

Spurs and Liverpool’s miserable runs continued as Harry Redknapp’s side made it five games without a win with a credible draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge while Wigan stunned Anfield and Kenny Dalglish thanks Gary Caldwell’s goal which helped them to a shock 2-1 win.

Arsenal moved three points clear in the race for third spot thanks to a straightforward 3-0 win over Aston Villa, goals from Keiren Gibbs, Theo Walcott and Mikel Arteta sealing the win for the inform Gunners.

Bolton meanwhile paid tribute to Fabrice Muamba with a crucial win over Blackburn at the Reebok. A brace from David Wheater moved Owen Coyle’s side out of the bottom three with QPR who lost 3-1 away to Sunderland dropping back into trouble. James McClean managed to get on the score sheet for Martin O’Neill’s side to help them move up to 8th in the table.

Norwich and Everton are within touching distance of seventh place Liverpool thanks to win over Wolves and Swansea respectively
