Chrysanthemum bounced back to her very best form to hold off hot favourite Twirl to land the Group 3 Park Express Stakes at the Curragh for trainer David Wachman.
The daughter of Danehill Dancer, who had some smart form behind Misty For Me last season was always to the fore in the 1m contest for Wayne Lordan.
She was joined up front in the early stages by Homecoming Queen and Crystal Gal who took the field on at a decent clip in the early stages.
Lordan was always sweetly turning into the straight and kicked for home two furlongs from home while the hot favourite Twirl was coming under pressure for Ryan Moore.
Twirl did manage to get a clear run coming into the final furlong however the winner had got first run on her and was always holding the Aidan O’Brien trained filly by 1 1/2 lengths at the line with the Jessica Harrington trained Princess Sinead back in third.
The winners trainer David Wachman said after the race. “This was the initial plan. The ground is key with her. She needs it soft.
“She was placed in a Group 1 last year so she was entitled to win a race like this. We will probably step her up in trip.”
