Cinders And Ashes, winner of the Supreme Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham festival will bypass the Grand National meeting at Aintree and be put away for the season.
The Donald McCain trained gelding landed somewhat of a surprise win when he beat the likes of Darlan in the opening race of the 2012 festival.
It has been thought that he would try double up at Aintree, however McCain, writing in his Betfair blog, has said that his star performer will be roughed off for the season and be brought back in for a Champion Hurdle campaign next season.
“After a discussion with the owners, it has been decided that Cinders And Ashes will not run again this season.
“Aintree had been a possibility for him after his Cheltenham success but we just felt that he had been on the go for a long time and he has nothing left to prove this season.
“He is off for a good break now and will come back next season with the 2013 Champion Hurdle as his main objective.”
