Leinster easily beat out of form Munster

Munster lost at home tonight to Leinster in what was a very poor performance ahead of next weeks clash with Ulster

Leinster’s Gordon D’Arcy will become only the second Leinster player (after Shane Horgan) to make 200 appearances for the province when he lines out against Munster on Saturday night at Thomond Park.  D’Arcy made his Leinster debut in September 1998 away to Edinburgh and has scored 55 tries in his 199 appearances to date for his home province.

Leinster are unbeaten in all their four clashes with the other Irish provinces this season, though the European champions have only beaten Munster once at Thomond Park since 1995;  that the 15-16 triumph which came two years ago this weekend.   D’Arcy will yet again line up alongside fellow center Brian O’Driscoll after Ireland’s all-time leading try scorer came through last week’s defeat to Ospreys unscathed.

Luke Fitzgerald will make his 100th Leinster appearance on Saturday night and will form a back three partnership alongside Isa Nacewa and Rob Kearney.  Eoin Reddan will partner Jonathan Sexton at half-back.

Jamie Heaslip captains the visitors at number eight, playing alongside Shane Jennings and Kevin McLaughlin in the back row.  New Zealand legend Brad Thorn will partner 6’9″ giant Devin Toner in the second row while Heinke van der Merwe is named in the front row alongside Limerick native Seán Cronin and fellow Irish international Mike Ross.
