The placings in Division 1A of the Hurling League will be decided this weekend with four of the six teams fighting it out for three semi-final berths.
Kilkenny host Galway knowing that they need to avoid defeat to ensure their passage to the league semi-final. Galway are in the unusual position of knowing that a win would probably take them into the semi-final play-offs but defeat could see them face Dublin in a relegation play-off. Cork go into their home game with Tipp knowing that they need to beat Tipp to progress as winners of the Division. A draw would be enough to guarantee progression for the Rebels, though defeat could see the Leesiders pipped for semi-final qualification if Galway beat Kilkenny. Tipperary need at least a draw to be sure of progression to the knock-out stages. Irrespective of results on Sunday; Dublin will face a relegation play-off, against Waterford if they beat the Déise though Galway could still be dragged into it if Waterford beat the Dubs.
The last three matches in the league stage of Division 1A all throw in at 2:30pm on Sunday with good crowds expected at Fraher Field (for Waterford -v- Dublin), Semple Stadium (Tipperary -v- Cork) and Nowlan Park (Killkenny -v- Galway).
