Galway play host to Kilkenny in Salthill on Sunday in the National Hurling League. The home side were beaten by Cork last time out and will be anxious to pick up the points in this game if they are to make the decider later in the season.
Easy victories over Wexford and Offaly were nothing less than expected but when the tribesmen came up against one of the stronger sides in the competition last weekend, they came up short. With that defeat still fresh in their minds John McIntyres men will want to prove that they are capable of beating the top sides this year. The loss of Joe Canning is an obvious blow but his teammates now have the chance to show that they are not just a one man band.
Kilkenny are unbeaten in the league this year and have verdicts over Tipperary and Cork on the record. In previous years, a trip west to face Galway would be a daunting task for any side but given the present form of both sides, the cats must hold bright prospects of taking the points.
