Champions league quarter-final second leg Team News
Barcelona (0) v Ac Milan (0)
Barcelona are without French defender Eric Abidal, who is awaiting a liver transplant. Xavi is set for a late fitness test after picking up a knock in the 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao at the weekend and spanish striker David Villa is still a long-term absentee with a broken leg.
Striker Antonio Cassano, defender Thiago Silva and midfielders Mark van Bommel and Gennaro Gattuso are all ruled out for AC Milan. Veterans Alessandro Nesta and Clarence Seedorf were both rested for the league match against Catania but are likely to return.
Having managed to keep Barcelona out at the San Siro last week, AC Milan will go into the match with much confidence, with a score draw being enough to see Massimiliano Allegri’s side through.
Speaking to AC Milan’s official website, Allegri insists that the game against Barcelona will be dependent on a few key moments, and believes that his team will make good of their opportunities against the current European champions, and emerge as the victors.
Only a win will do for Barcelona tonight. In front of a packed Camp Nou, expect the champions to turn on the style. “We have to win, that’s the reality. At home, with our fans, we have to get to the next round and we must go into the match with confidence. We’ll see 90 thrilling minutes” says Barcelona star Andreas Iniesta.
