Barcelona and Bayern advance to semi finals

Barcelona and Bayern Munich both advanced to the semi finals of the Champions League on Tuesday night.

At the Camp Nou two penalties from Lionel Messi inspired Barcelona to a 3-1 win over Serie A leaders AC Milan. The Argentinean striker opened the scoring from the penalty spot on 11 minutes after he had been fouled by Luca Antonini.

Milan drew level just after the 30 minute mark when Antonio Nocerino finished calmly after being set up by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Messi again from the spot put Barcelona back in front four minutes before half when Busquets was fouled by Alessandro Nesta and the striker made the game safe just after half time when his deflected effort fell kindly for Andreas Iniesta to slot the ball home.

Bayern Munich meanwhile were already two nil ahead on aggregrate when Ivan Olic put them ahead at the Allianz Arena on 13 minutes and the Croatian striker made sure of a comfortable win with his second of the night 8 minutes before half time to seal the Bavarian giants place in the semi final.
