Field of Eleven for Betfair Bowl

Updated: April 10, 2012

A field of 11 have been declared for Thursday’s Grade One Betfair Bowl Chase on the first day of Aintree’s Grand National meeting.

Nicky Henderson is responsible for three in the race, Burton Port, Riverside Theatre and Master Of The Hall. Burton Port ran a creditable race in the Gold Cup at Cheltenham to finish fourth and he is on course for a return to the scene of his 2010 Mildmay Novices’ Chase victory. Riverside Theatre steps up in trip after his Ryanair Chase win where he seemed to need every yard of the two-mile-five-furlong distance. Master Of The Hall looks to be Henderson’s third string and needs to improve on what he has already shown to land a blow here.

What A Friend, Diamond Harry and Carruthers join Burton Port as representatives from the Gold Cup field. Kieran Burke’s Hunt Ball makes another step-up in grade as he bids to enhance his growing reputation. Rated as low as 68 at the start of the season, he has now risen to a mark of 154 following his exploits at Cheltenham. Medermit and last year’s winner Nacarat complete the British runners.

Jessica Harrington sends over Roberto Goldback while Oliver McKiernan’s Follow The Plan makes up the Irish challenge.
