Leading Irish chance to miss Cheltenham

Its been a bad week for Irish racing fans with the news on Monday that Bold Optimist, who had been disputing favouritism for the Weatherbys Champion Bumper at Cheltenham would not be running, Today Former Arkle winner, Forpadydeplasterer, who was as short as 14-1 for the Ryanair Chase, has been ruled out of the Cheltenham Festival by trainer Tom Cooper.

Last year’s Queen Mother second returned a sick horse after the King George at Kempton , and will not be ready in time for his intended engagement at the festival.

Forpadydeplasterer has been withdrawn from the Ryanair, the Champion Chase and the Gold Cup.

Tom Cooper said: “He was a very sick horse atKempton and when he came home. He did improve briefly and began cantering, but has failed to recover sufficiently and we’d be rushing him to get there. The horse comes first and we will not be doing that. Hopefully we can get him back for Punchestown.”

Forpadydeplasterer finished second to Big Zeb in the Champion Chase at Cheltenham last season and filled the same spot behind Golden Silver in last season’s Boylesports.com Champion Chase at the Punchestown festival.
