Arsenal’s Japanese midfielder Ryo Miyaichi is set for a loan to an English team, according to manager Arsene Wenger.
The 19 year old has only appeared in two Carling Cup matches for the Gunners this season, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s first-team break through means opportunities could be sparse for the Japanese player.
Wenger has said any potential loan would be to an English club. The Arsenal manager said, “It will have to be in England because he will lose the homegrown [status] if he leaves the country”.
Players must train at an English club for three years before their 21st birthday to qualify for the Premier League’s Homegrown Rule.
Miyaichi joined Arsenal in the summer of 2010, but spent half of last season on loan at Feyenoord. The Japanese starlet scored three and assisted five goals in his brief stint at the Dutch club.
