Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has been linked with cash-rich Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala.
The Bulgarian is out of contract in the summer and is behind Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck in United’s pecking order.
Reports earlier in the month suggested United were prepared to extend Berbatov’s contract until June 2013, but the 30 year old has also been heavily linked to former club Bayer Leverkusen.
Today, Talk Sport claimed Anzhi are preparing a lucrative contract offer to lure Berbatov to Russia and partner him with Samuel Eto’o.
Berbatov was joint-top scorer in the Premier League last season with 20 goals, but he has only appeared sporadically this season.
The Bulgarian returned to the United team in December and scored six goals in three matches against Fulham, Wigan and Blackburn. A poor performance in the 3-0 loss to Newcastle saw Berbatov return to the bench, however.
