Blackburn Rovers have been given permission to speak with Swiss-English defender Scott Sutter.

The Young Boys’ defender was born in Hertfordshire, but he has played in the Swiss Super League since 2004 and has two caps for the Swiss national team.

Young Boys are third in the Swiss top division, but have already allowed defender Francois Affolter to join Werder Bremen. The Swiss team are now willing to allow 25 year old Sutter to speak to Steve Kean’s struggling side.

Sutter played for Grasshopper between 2003 and 2009 before joining Young Boys. The defender also played youth football for Millwall, Barnet, Aston Villa and Charlton.

Talking to Blick, Sutter said: “If I have no future with Young Boys, I want to go back to my homeland. I’ve been in the Super League nine-and-a-half years.”
