Tommy Bowe is set to return to Ulster next season after his Ospreys contract expires.
The wing last played for his native province between 2003 and 2008.
The Ireland star announced last week that he would leave Ospreys when his current contract ends.
Munster were believed to be favourites to sign Bowe, but Ulster now hope to win the race for the wing.
A representative for Bowe said: “Tommy is still under contract at the Ospreys and at this stage is concentrating on Ireland’s Six Nations championship campaign.”
