Armagh 1-11 Dublin 2-12
Dublin collected full points in their opening NFL Division One contest with an impressive win over Armagh at the newly redeveloped Athletic Grounds.
Bernard Brogan and Diarmuid Connolly both found the back of the net as the Dubs proved too strong for their hosts.
The visitors got off to the perfect start when Armagh full-back Brendan Donaghy misplaced a pass and Diarmuid Connolly collected possession and hit a low shot to the net.
Michael Dara Macauley opened the scoring for the Dubs, before former Mayo player Billy Joe Padden hit his first point for Armagh.
Bernard Brogan then scored for the visitors, but Armagh drew level in the 19th minute when Charlie Vernon found the net for the home side.
Gareth Swift added further points, but Dublin dominated the final 10 minutes of the half, outscoring the home side by five points to one.
Two points each from Tomas Quinn and Bernard Brogan gave Pat Gilroy’s side a 1-7 to 1-4 interval lead.
Steven McDonnell narrowed the gap on the restart, but the Dubs added further points through McManamon and Connolly.
Mackin’s fourth point kept the home team in the game before Micheal O’Rourke, Vernon and McDonnell all found the target to bring them level. Lally then put Dublin back in front with 15 minutes to play.
McDonnell levelled the scores for the fifth time before Dublin struck with 1-2 blast to kill off the contest. As has now become the norm, it was Brogan who added the crucial goal to take the spoils for the visitors.
