Carlow appoint Rainbow as manager

Updated: September 7, 2012

Carlow have appointed Anthony Rainbow as their new manager of the senior footballers following a meeting of the county board.

Former All-Star Rainbow takes over from Luke Dempsey who relinquished his position after losing in the All-Ireland qualifiers to Laois.

Dempsey had failed in Leinster as his team went out to Meath after securing a replay and it had been felt Rainbow was in line to take over seeing as the Kildare man had served as one of Dempsey’s selectors.

The managerial merry-go round was especially busy in Carlow recently as John Meyler has been appointed to manager the hurlers for the forthcoming season.

Meyler had been with Kerry but resigned in May following a Christy Ring Cup defeat and the Kerry board will hope to have him replaced soon.

Carlow will be extremely happy with their managerial business in both codes lately as Rainbow and Meyler will bring a wealth of experience to both teams this season.
