The Irish track team continued their excellent performances in the World Cup at Cali, Columbia over the weekend.
After the trio of Jennifer O’Reilly, Ciara Horne and Caroline Ryan finished 10th in the team pursuit, Ryan then exceeded all expectations by breaking the Irish record when qualifying fourth in the women’s individual pursuit.
In clocking a time of three minutes 40.6 seconds in the 3,000 metre test, Ryan finished just 0.546 seconds off the time of third-placed rider Pascale Schnider from Switzerland. The two riders fought it out for the bronze medal and Ryan went over a second faster in that final, Schnider also improved and took the medal. Martyn Irvine also performed strongly in the men’s omnium finishing 10th.
