Injuries are mounting for Kilkenny ahead of their National Hurling League division 1 final clash with Cork on Sunday week.
Aidan Fogarty has broken his wrist and has been confirmed as an absentee for the final. The Cats have six other injury concerns ahead of the meeting with Cork.
Fogarty has won six All-Irelands with the county but has had a bad run of injuries in recent years, missing most of last season with a broken ankle. He did however return in time to be named in the Kilkenny panel for last September’s All-Ireland final.
“This is really bad luck after losing so much time last season,” the Emeralds club man said. “In a best-case scenario I might get back in four weeks, but I would need luck. I couldn’t believe it when I was told the wrist was fractured.”
Henry Shefflin, Richie Hogan and Lester Ryan will all definitely miss the Cork game, while Michael Rice and Noel Hickey will have to prove their fitness in weekend club matches.
