Chelsea defender Alex is reportedly close to completing a £4m move to Paris St. Germain. QPR were believed to be favourites to sign the Brazilian, but the cash-rich French side are edging closer to a deal.
Carlo Ancelotti became PSG manager in December and has reportedly been tracking Alex, Jose Bosingwa and Frank Lampard.
PSG sporting director Leonardo confirmed Alex was in Paris on Wednesday to discuss the deal. Leonardo said: “For Alex, there is a possibility but it is not done yet.”
Alex started his career with Santos and signed for Chelsea in 2004. The 29 year old then spent three years on loan at PSV for work permit reasons.
Alex has been a rotational player for Chelsea during his career and has dropped down the pecking order after the signings of David Luiz and Gary Cahill in the last year.
Chelsea accepted a transfer request from the Brazilian in December.
