Crossmaglen Rangers star Jamie Clarke has vowed to make himself available for Armagh’s National Football League Division One relegation tussle with Donegal on Sunday week.
The young forward is currently preparing for the Glen’s All-Ireland Club Football Final replay with Garrycastle, to be played at Cavan’s Breffni Park on Saturday evening, but has promised to return to county colours the following weekend.
“I’m going to make myself available,” he confirmed to the Irish News. ”I have thought about it, and I am happy to go back.”
Clarke said he did not know whether other Crossmaglen players would make themselves available for the Orchard County so soon after the club final replay: “To be honest, it’s not something we have discussed. I’m sure we’ll sit down and talk about it after Saturday. I don’t know what the other lads are going to do.”
There are as many as six other Crossmaglen players who Armagh manager Paddy O’Rourke could call on should they offer their services for a game which Armagh must avoid defeat to be certain of avoiding relegation to Division Two. Only a win will give Donegal a realistic chance of survival.
