The Cork hurlers overcame the challenge of UL at Pairc Ui Rinn on Sunday afternoon.
The home side eventually ran out 1-18 to 2-12 winners over the students, and booked their place in the final of the competition. A 65th minute goal from wing forward Conor Lehane was the decisive score in a keenly fought contest. Lehane was one of the stars for the rebels and finished with 1-3.
Full-forward Eoin Murphy also showed up well and scored five of his eight points in the first half. Cork went in at the break leading on a scoreline of 0-11 to 1-7.
Clare’s Andrew Quinn was the students best player, hitting a goal before half-time and adding some excellent points to keep his side in the game.
Paddy Murphy from Tipperary also scored a three pointer for the students late on but it was too little too late as Cork advanced to a final meeting with Waterford next Sunday.
