Co Tipperary trainer, David Marnane, struck with his first runner at this season’s Dubai Carnival, when Dandy Boy came from last to first to win the 7f handicap at Meydan this afternoon.

The mount of Colm O’Donoghue, Dandy Boy was settled in rear and cut through the field with ease before quickening right away to win by 2 lengths. The winner, who took the Victoria Cup at Ascot earlier in the season, was returned at 10/1.

Although this was a first Dubai winner for Marnane, the Bansha native had previously spent 9 years in the country, working for both Doug Watson and Kieran McLaughlin.
